Slide background
  • Tana Toraja is located in South Sulawesi Province and is one of Indonesia’s tourism magnets. With many Toraja tribes still live in mountainous area and maintain their distinctive lifestyle, which is the Austronesian lifestyle, making this area as the must see attractions!

In this trip we will visit the North and South of Tana Toraja regions. In the North we will visit the Bori Parinding (Megalithic Archeological Sites), Pallawa (a collection of traditional house or better known as Tongkonan, located between the bamboo trees at the top of the cliff), Tumongga Stone (often also called Menterotiko, a herd of mountain where can be found around 50 menhir stones in a circle with four trees in the middle; from here you can see the beauty of Rantepao and surrounding areas), Lokomata (big rock that the locals used to bury their relatives).

After we finished with the northern part, we will continue our journey to the South. We will visit Londa (typical Tana Toraja graveyard, located in a high place of a hill with a cave that was left open), Kete Kesu (here there are many of the locals tongkonan, granary, and megaliths building in the vicinity, there is also a burial site on a cliff with hanging tombs), Lemo (often referred to as the home of the spirits, where there is a funeral and the body can be seen because it is stored in the open air; the complex is a combination of death, art, and ritual), Kambira (burial place for babies on trees; Toraja people consider this place sacred since the baby teeth have not grown and must be buried on a tree like returning to the mother womb as the tree has a lot of sap, which is considered as a substitute for breast milk).

For those who also want to explore the city of Makassar can spend their time visiting Fort Rotterdam, Losari, and Bulukumba.
